The challenge was to promote research into market white spaces, real-world problems where there are currently no competition or the competition is falling short. The Northwestern SEGAL Design Institute strives to encourage student designers to solve one such white space with a product case study and proof of concept.
We are simply women who saw and experienced a clear lack of comfort in the bra category, an item of clothing that has largely remained unchanged for decades. As someone with mild hand dexterity issues myself, I understand designing for the extreme users of a market would benefit the general population of consumers. Inspired by female athletes, mothers-to-be, and women with hand/arm disabilities, we began our journey to create an adaptive bra that any woman can feel confident wearing.
